Marta María Pérez Bravo was born in Cuba and currently lives in Mexico. She is best known for her black and white photography and her recurrent theme of Afro-Cuban Santeria.

   She has recently received a grant from the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) due to her lifetime achievements. Pérez Bravo is now working with video as her main medium and presents us with elaborate installations.
